About AIA Northern Nevada

The National American Institute of Architects (AIA) was created in 1857 to create an architecture organization that would “promote scientific and practical perfection of its members” and “elevate the standing of the profession.” To achieve this, the local chapter of the AIA Northern Nevada has become a community-based organization that actively participates in community development issues and contributes to the living standards of people by improving their built environments.

Among the programs and outreach offered by AIA Northern Nevada are quarterly lunches with wonderful guest speakers presenting a variety of topics related to architecture and the building arts; the biannual Triptych Conference and Design Awards that provides education and networking opportunities for owners, builders, and architects; support for the annual State of Nevada Design Awards, and a periodic distinguished lecturer series put together by the Black Rock Design Institute (BRDI) and presented at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno.
Above all, the charter of the AIA both nationally and locally is to show, through works and outreach to the broader community, that design matters; that it affects how we feel—in profound ways—about the places, spaces, and environments we inhabit, visit, and are exposed to every day.

We invite and welcome all architects, allied professionals, and friends of architecture and the building arts to join AIA Northern Nevada today.
